Epic Games partners with J.J. Abrams on Spyjinx mobile game for iOS, Android
Epic Games looks intent on continuing to dominate the mobile gaming scene. Already on one of the biggest winners of all time with Fortnite, the company has teamed with J.J. Abrams Bad Robot production house to develop an all-new mobile game it calls Spyjinx. The tag line for the game is “Join the Jinx League and become the ultimate spy Mastermind”.
The game combines a mix of action-strategy gameplay with RPG character development and PvP multiplayer. The latter component is, of course, what has helped to make Fortnite such a global hit. Players choose to locate their base in an exotic location and customize it in a way that aims to stop other players from stealing the intelligence and loot you have stolen from others. Rooms can be set up to be a luxury retreat or a deadly trap. Players also build squads comprised of individuals with unique skill sets to break into other players’ lairs.
A beta version of Spyjinx for iOS users gamers has already landed in Malaysia, followed closely by Australia. Given the success that Fortnite has had as a ‘free-to-play’ title where players spend real money on customizations if they choose, you can probably expect Epic will go down the same path with its latest title. Players will need at least an iPhone 6s or higher or an iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 4 or higher running at least iOS 11.
