HP is now shipping its 2025 EliteBook 8 G1a 16 series to directly succeed the older EliteBook 865 G10. The model introduces a handful of upgrades and changes including a thinner profile, larger and more comfortable keys and clickpad, more USB-C, and of course the latest AMD Pro Zen 5 processor options. One specific configuration, however, entails a hidden drawback that buyers will want to know about.
Opting for the EliteBook 8 G1a 16 1200p touchscreen configuration promises only 63 percent sRGB colors while the 1200p configuration with no touchscreen comes with full sRGB colors. This difference is explicitly stated in the product specifications albeit it's a detail that can be easily overlooked for most users. The color difference between touch and non-touch configurations is unusual as most other laptops with touch and non-touch options typically come with more similar color profiles. In this case, choosing the touchscreen EliteBook 8 G1a 16 will mean sacrificing accurate colors which most graphics editors or multimedia users may think twice about.
More details on the EliteBook 8 G1a 16 can be found in our review of the non-touch configuration here.
