Early Apple Intelligence demo on iPad Pro M2 shows better on-device processing performance than Galaxy AI
While Apple Intelligence was announced on June 10, it's yet to make a public debut. However, developers with access to iPadOS 18.1, iOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia Beta updates have already been testing the AI suite. One such user who goes by AppleLeaker on X has shown off its capabilities.
As per AppleLeaker's video, Apple Intelligence on the M2 iPad Pro (256 GB M2 iPad Air curr. $653.99 on Amazon) can proofread and rewrite over 2,000 words or about 15 thousand characters in under 2 minutes. What's rather interesting about the video is that AppleLeaker says that all of it is done on-device.
Samsung Galaxy AI also has a similar feature, but it's limited to 500 characters. Of course, the video showcasing Apple Intelligence's capabilities didn't factor in how well the generative AI has proofread or rewritten the entire text. However, it does seem that the rewritten text doesn't have citations that were present in the original text.
But again, Apple Intelligence is still in developer preview, and the stable versions of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia are expected to roll out in late September or early October. So, Apple still has time to refine things.
