The EA publisher sale on Steam has officially kicked off, offering discounts on many of the gaming giant's most popular releases from the last few years. While not all EA games are instant hits, and not all of the discounts are worthwhile, there are some steep price cuts to be had. The EA Steam publisher sale starts on May 1 and ends on May 15.
Star Wars Battlefront II - 80% off
Star Wars Battlefront II is a 2017 reboot of one of the most iconic Star Wars shooters of all time, featuring both ground and space battles from Star Wars lore spanning three distinct eras in a galaxy far, far away. Players can jump into the chaos in either single-player PvE mode or multiplayer, with online PvP. While the main story follows Eden Versio, Battlefront 2's playable characters also include classics, like Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett, and Darth Vader, as well as new blood, like Kylo Ren, Rey, and Finn. Ordinarily, Star Wars Battlefront II comes in at $39.99, but as part of the new Steam sale, it can be had for as little as $7.99.
If you like competitive FPS games, check out the Iqunix EZ63 Hall-effect gaming keyboard (curr. $179.99 on Amazon). We gave it high praise in our review.
Tales of Kenzera: ZAU - 60% off
Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is a narrative-driven indie game published under EA and developed by Surgent Studios. The story follows a grieving young shaman as he embarks on a journey to bring his father back from the realm of the dead. The story takes inspiration from African Bantu traditions and storytelling, and won a Bafta award for its storytelling.
In terms of gameplay, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is an action-adventure with metroidvania elements and hack-n-slash combat. As you delve deeper into the mythical realm, you learn to master your cosmic powers, which allow you to do everything from stop time to glide through the air, and become a formidable warrior shaman.
For the duration of the EA Steam publisher sale, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is discounted by 60% from $19.99 to $7.99, making it a great time to play through this unorthodox story.
Unravel Two - 75% off
Unravel and Unravel Two are both currently on sale for 75% off during the Steam EA publisher sale. Both games follow the same physics-based puzzle-platformer gameplay formula, although Unravel Two is designed to be played in multiplayer, either in online co-op or split-screen local co-op, making it the perfect game to play with kids or a partner. In Unravel Two, players take control of two Yarnies, anthropomorphic creatures made of yarn, that become connected to each other as they become lost in a gloomy forest.
Players must work together, using their yarn strand and physics to solve problems and traverse the forest. Along the way, you'll encounter other characters and unravel the story playing out in parallel to your adventure. Until May 15, Unravel Two is on sale for $4.99 on Steam.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition - 90% off
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a fairly recent re-release of the Mass Effect series in its entirety, including Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, including more than 40 DLCs, all remastered for 4K UHD. If you've yet to live through the adventures of Commander Shepard, this Steam sale might be the perfect opportunity.
Mass Effect is known for pioneering many of the single-player story-based RPG mechanics, including an impressive social system where the choices you make and the dialogues you have with other characters truly matter. For the duration of the EA Steam publisher sale, you can hop into the Mass Effect sci-fi adventure for as little as $5.99 — 90% off the regular selling price.
Fe - 80% off
Fe again falls squarely into the indie hidden gem game class. The single-player action-adventure platformer throws players into a dark Nordic forest, where they are tasked with exploring their atmospheric surroundings, solving puzzles, and uncovering the mysteries and secrets of the mystical forest. The platformer follows Fe, a fox-like creature who is trying to unravel the mysteries of The Silent Ones, who threaten their home.
Fe is able to collaborate with and control the other animals in the forest, stopping along the way to guide them through their own problems and learn new tricks and abilities from them in the process. Part of Fe's draw is its art style, which features bright colours, stark contrast, and plenty of character, much like its predecessors, like Limbo. Reviews on Steam praise it for unique visuals, challenging puzzles, and its soundtrack, which ties in with the story and the gameplay mechanics.
During EA's Steam sale, Fe is on sale for $3.99, down 80% from the usual $19.99.
