Introduced two years ago as the brand's first rugged phone with a night vision IR camera, the MediaTek Helio G90-powered Doogee S96 Pro is now receiving a well-deserved update. The refreshed model comes as the Doogee S96 GT and is scheduled to hit the market next month with a more powerful processor, Android 12, an improved selfie shooter, and more.
According to Doogee, the S96 Pro turned out to be a solid commercial success, with over one million units sold. Without any major design changes, the Doogee S96 GT is a quite different beast when looking at the specs sheet. The processor is now the MediaTek Helio G95, accompanied by 8 GB of memory and 256 GB of internal storage space (which can be increased by 1 TB thanks to the microSD card slot). The night vision camera doesn't come with noticeable hardware changes, but Doogee claims that now it can capture "anything within a 15 m range," most likely due to software optimizations.
In addition to the above, we should also mention the 32 MP selfie shooter, which possesses twice the amount of pixels as the one installed in the S96 Pro. The list of specs and features that remain unchanged includes the 6.22-inch display, the generous 6,320 mAh battery, as well as the 48 + 20 + 8 MP main camera trio on the back. Android 12 is preinstalled and the device carries the IP68/IP69K and MIL-STD-810H ratings for ruggedness.
The Doogee S96 GT is scheduled to hit the market via AliExpress and DoogeeMall in about three weeks. However, those eager to try their luck can enter Doogee's giveaway for the chance to win a free S96 GT.
