Not long after MediaTek announced its first mobile SoC focused on gaming handsets, namely the Helio G90, this chip surfaced on both Geekbench and AnTuTu. According to the results it obtained, the MediaTek Helio G90 ranks between the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 and the HiSilicon Kirin 810.

MediaTek unveiled its latest chipsets — the Helio G90 and G90T — earlier today and these gaming-centric pieces of hardware are already showing up in the popular benchmark databases. Now, we are talking about an unspecified SoC with Cortex-A76 cores that surfaced on both AnTuTu and Geekbench. However, there is no room for misunderstanding here since the Helio G90 is the first MediaTek processor to use these 64-bit cores.

The AnTuTu score of 220,000 achieved by the new MediaTek Helio G90 places this chip between the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 and the Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 810. The Geekbench results also place this chip at the top of the mid-range sector: 2,408 single-core points and a multi-core score of 7,161.

For now, there is only one noticeable difference between the G90 and the G90T. Both chips use the 12 nm FinFET technology and can support up to 8 GB (G90) or 10 GB (G90T) of LPDDR4X memory, a single 64 MP camera or a dual 24 + 16 MP setup (up to four cameras supported in a device), 240 fps video recording, 4x4 MIMO, Cat12 4G LTE connectivity, and more.

The first phones to use the MediaTek Helio G90 series are expected to arrive in the final quarter of the year. The start will apparently belong to Xiaomi, which is supposed to unleash its first Helio G90T-powered pretty soon — a piece of information revealed by the company's Global VP during today's launch event.
