The IdeaPad 3 15ABA7 - an office notebook in 15.6-inch format - is available in three different colors (Abyss Blue, Arctic Grey, Misty Blue). Depending on the hardware, prices range between approximately US$600-900. The present test unit is available for around US$780.
Lenovo uses AMD APUs (Ryzen 3 to Ryzen 7) of the Barcelo generation for the series. Our test unit is powered by a Ryzen 5 5625U APU, which provides adequate performance for office- and internet applications, as well as light gaming. The APU is supported by 16 GB of RAM (DDR4-3200, dual-channel mode, 8 GB onboard). Further expansion of the RAM is possible thanks to a memory bank (occupied, 8 GB).
The storage capacity (512 GB) should suffice for the laptop's intended use. If the size of the installed PCIe 4 SSD (M.2-2242) is not enough, it can be swapped out for a larger-capacity model. M.2 2242 or M.2 2280 models can also be installed. Unfortunately, the Lenovo notebook does not offer space for additional drives.
One battery charge (45 Wh) is sufficient for practical runtimes of 10 to 11 hours - very good values. Another positive aspect is that power can be supplied via the included proprietary Lenovo power adapter as well as via a universal USB-C charger. The matte 15.6-inch screen (1,920 x 1,080, IPS) meets the respective targets in terms of brightness and contrast, and color reproduction is acceptable. However, there is room for improvement in color space coverage.
More information and numerous benchmark results are available in our review of the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15ABA7.
