The Texas-based company only recently announced the Latitude 11 5000 at CES, but will now be officially refreshing larger models in the series as well. These include:
- Latitude 12 5000 (E5270): Now shipping with a starting price of 1070 Euros
- Latitude 14 5000 (E5470): Available for pre-order witha starting price of 975 Euros
- Latitude 15 5000 (E5570): Now shipping with a starting price of 960 Euros
The new lineup of Latitude 5000 notebooks is characterized by reductions in both weight and thickness. According to Dell, the new notebooks will be 27 percent lighter and 18 percent thinner than the previous generation whilst sporting ULV Skylake processors from the Core i3-6100U to the i5-6200U, i5-6300U, and even the less common Core i5-6440HQ.
Optional features include integrated Smart Card and Fingerprint readers and hardware-based security via "Dell ControlVault" that stores critical data on its own dedicated chip. This additional level of protection is intended to minimize the risk of an infection gaining access to sensitive information.
As for the hardware, Dell is equipping the new lineup with DDR4 memory, M.2 SSD slots, touchscreens with Corning Gorilla Glass, backlit keyboards, high-density batteries, and docking ports compatible with the E-family of docking stations. The models will be compatible with Intel Pro WiDi, the Dell Wireless Dock, and Dell Companion accessories.
