When we talk about the characters created by Rockstar Games that have marked millions of players around the world, two names are often mentioned, and they are Niko Bellić and Arthur Morgan. But while it's difficult to choose between these two protagonists, Dan Houser recently gave his opinion on the subject.
Thus, it's important to understand that these are two different characters, each with their own stories and their own pain. Arthur Morgan has suffered numerous betrayals and is torn between reason and hope. As for Niko Bellic, his story is quite dark, and he finds himself plunged into many problems that take dramatic turns.
But Dan Houser seems to have a favorite, as he revealed in Lex Fridman's latest podcast specifying this about Arthur Morgan:
"I think he's the best lead character. The lead characters are different from the side characters, and I think he's the most rounded and works the best.”
But he also wanted to give his opinion on Niko Bellić, the protagonist of GTA IV, stating that he was one of his favorites with Arthur Morgan. Finally, he specified that Arthur Morgan was the most developed regarding his personal story:
"The way that all the features worked into Arthur's character, I thought that was really... He was really rounded, he worked in lots of different ways really well. I loved his flawed relationship with his old girlfriend, things like that. The bits that turned up around him.”
Therefore, while other characters have left a lasting impression on players, such as Trevor from GTA V or Carl Johnson from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Dan Houser has chosen his favorites.
