Neon White feels like a surreal fever dream with trippy, psychedelic visuals complimented by an insane story. You play White, an assassin from hell who has to compete against demon slayers for a chance "to live permanently in Heaven."
The game just oozes style with slick visuals reminiscent of games like The Killer is Dead and Killer 7 and a thumping, energetic drum and bass soundtrack to keep you grooving.
Neon White isn't your typical FPS either - instead of exterminating your enemies, you are encouraged to move faster. The game uses a "Soul Card" system that gives you weapons to attack your foes, or you can discard them to use unique movement abilities. The focus is on speedrunning levels as fast as you can.
You can even combine cards to gain huge boosts or discover shortcuts through a level. When you are not grinding times in a level, you interact with other demon slayers and get to know them through a social system that tells you more about them. Your goal is to discover why all the other assassins seem so familiar.
The game has an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam, with 98% of users leaving a positive review. Grab the game for 50% off at $12.49 (€11.49 or £9.99). The deal ends on January 25.
