Mekkablood: Quarry Assault feels like a throwback FPS in the vein of old-school classics like Descent and Shogo: Mobile Armor Division. It lets you pilot a giant mech and places you in a detailed cockpit with moving parts and a customizable dashboard to add a little personality.
The action takes place in 2.5D with charming 16-bit visuals that are colorful and pulled straight out of the early '90s 'tude era. You play Bill, "a grizzled former trucker turned robojockey," who has a bone to pick with TorxCorp.
The evil corporation has its beady eyes on Bill's mining claim and steals the prized figurines on his mech's dashboard. Oh, and they also kidnap his girlfriend.
With the help of his friend Rusty, Bill must take the fight to TorxCorp in a giant mech to get his figurines back, and "Beth too if it isn't too much of a hassle." The game promises smooth FPS combat and old-school level design with secrets that award you figurines for the dashboard that are fully animated and "shake & sway along with the action."
