OpenAI has released ChatGPT's web search functionality for all users following the initial release to paid subscribers in November. The feature can trigger automatically based on your prompt or be manually activated with the new web search icon.

OpenAI has now begun rolling out ChatGPT Search to all users. First announced on October 31, the company made it available for paying members in November after a brief testing period.

The expansion to free users will happen gradually over the next few days in regions where ChatGPT is available. The feature allows the AI chatbot to search the web for queries and present relevant links.

Users who have set ChatGPT Search as their default search engine on their browsers can search directly from the address bar. To start a search within a conversation, users can click the new web search icon (in the shape of a globe) next to the attach files and tool picker icons in the ChatGPT text field.

Every search will cite the sources used to pull data and give relevant links in the sidebar during conversations. You can search for anything from info on the latest movies, shows, or up-to-date sports scores, stock quotes, and more. ChatGPT can also trigger relevant web searches automatically based on your prompts.
