Apple's Head of Marketing, Greg Joswiak, released a teaser video which may show the next generation MacBook Pro for the first time. The video states that the next MacBook Pro is "coming soon", and rumors point to an announcement later this week. The MacBook Pro in the video appears to be colored in light blue, so Apple's most powerful laptop could be offered in a color other than silver, gray or black for the very first time.
However, the blue color could also be attributed to the lighting. Otherwise, the design apparently won’t change. Two specific hints about the Apple M5 SoC are hidden in this teaser. First, the half-opened MacBook Pro looks like the letter "V", which is the Roman numeral for five. Also, Greg Joswiak introduces the tweet with "Mmmmm...", which contains the letter M five times. Rumors suggest that the MacBook Pro will barely receive any new features apart from the new M5 processor.
Apple will reportedly launch the cheapest model with the Apple M5 first, as configurations based on the more powerful Apple M5 Pro and Apple M5 Max are not expected to launch until early 2026. A comprehensive leak revolving around the iPad Pro from late September already included initial benchmark results for the Apple M5. Accordingly, even the slower variant of the Apple M5 with nine instead of ten CPU cores offers approximately 13% more single-core and 16% more multi-core performance compared to the Apple M4, while the GPU is even over 33% more powerful.
