Banana Pi releases new WiFi 7 router boards with 10 Gigabit LAN

Banana Pi has now released the latest entry in its BPI-R4 series. To recap, the BPI-R4 landed in November 2023. Meanwhile, the BPI-R4 Lite debuted in August 2025. Shortly beforehand, Banana Pi previewed the BPI-R4 Pro running OpenWRT 24.10 with half a dozen Ethernet ports and WiFi 7 support.
Now, the company has begun selling the latter globally in two variants. While Banana Pi's 4E and 8X variants are similar for the most part, they differ in a few important areas. For instance, the latter is the only variant that features 10 Gigabit ports (LAN/WAN). By contrast, the BPI-R4 Pro 4E leverages 2.5 Gigabit ports.

Moreover, Banana Pi equips its 4E and 8X variants with 4 GB DDR4 and 8 GB DDR4 RAM, respectively. Conversely, both BPI-R4 Pro variants feature a MediaTek MT7988A chipset with four ARM Cortex-A73 CPU cores clocked at 1.8 GHz, 8 GB of eMMC flash storage, a microSD card reader and multiple M.2 slots for B-Key and M-Key expansion.
The BPI-R4 Pro is available to order in its 8X form for $218 from Banana Pi. Alternatively, the same variant can be picked up from third parties on Amazon for $229.99. Please see Banana Pi's wiki for more information about its latest router board.
