A new update has been released for Avowed (read our review), the action RPG released earlier this year by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. The update brings several new game features such as new weapons and abilities, software and hardware improvements, and tons of bug fixes.
The new update, which arrives exactly two months after the last one, takes the software version from 1.4 to 1.5. A notable change the update brings according to the changelog, which has been published on the official Obsidian Forums, is that Avowed is now Steam Deck Verified. This means the game has been tested to run well out of the box on Valve's handheld without the need for any configuration and with full controller support. With Steam Deck verification, the game should also work flawlessly on other handhelds such as the Lenovo Legion Go S (available on Amazon for $649.99).
The changelog also mentions there are now new weapons in various regions such as a two-handed hammer, a unique mace, and a robe in Dawnshore and Emerald Stair, while Shatterscarp has a new unique two-handed axe.
The update also brings new Ranger and Fighter abilities and passives. Enemies have also gained upgrades as it has been revealed that several enemies will now be able to use player abilities such as Blizzard, Returning Storm, and the ability to put up a physical or magical barrier.
Obsidian has also added the option to set the FPS limit to 40FPS and the option to choose ‘Native AA’ in the FSR Quality setting. Japanese and Korean are also now available in the language options. The changelog also says that issues that could lead to GPU crashes have been fixed and available quest objectives for all maps are now visible regardless of what location the player is in.
Avowed is available to buy on Steam and the Xbox store (Xbox Play Anywhere) for $69.99. You can also play it on Xbox Game Pass if you have a subscription.
