AulGo: Ultra-compact 4K camera with display aims to be a cheap Insta360 alternative

The AulGo is a new ultra-compact camera designed for mobile use in everyday scenarios, sports, and travel. Weighing just 56 grams, it features a Sony IMX486 sensor previously used in the Xiaomi Mi 6X from 2018, offering a resolution of 12 megapixels. The camera is also claimed to support 4K video recording at 30 fps, although reports on this remain inconsistent. Image stabilization is included, but it relies on electronic stabilization rather than a mechanical gimbal.

The AulGo offers five recording modes, including loop recording, effectively allowing it to function as a dashcam, as well as time-lapse capture. The camera features a small built-in display, while a Wi-Fi connection enables live preview via a smartphone app. The device can also be connected to a PC via USB Type-C and is powered by a 500 mAh battery.

As part of its Kickstarter campaign, backers can secure a unit for at least $199, with delivery scheduled for November 2026. As with any crowdfunding project, this involves a financial risk that should not be underestimated. A more established alternative is the Insta360 Go 3S, which is also available on Amazon. The DJI Osmo Action 4 is currently available at an even lower price and, unlike the AulGo, does not involve any crowdfunding risk.
