Insta360's next 360 camera just got one step closer to a US launch

The Insta360 X6 has passed FCC certification in the US, meaning we’re getting closer to a launch date. The certification was granted on July 3, under FCC ID 2AWWH-CINSABXA, model code CINSABXA. The paperwork covers Wi-Fi on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, Bluetooth, radiation exposure limits, and the camera's antenna parts.
This US approval comes after the same camera was cleared in China, the UAE, and India in March. This mirrors the pattern of approvals in several countries that occurred before the X5 and X4 were launched.
Insta360 has launched its last two flagship cameras in spring. The X4 came out in April 2024, and the X5 followed in April 2025. We expected the X6 to arrive in a similar window this year, but that has not happened. However, we could see the camera get a late August or September launch.
Instead of rushing out the X6 earlier this year, Insta360 spent much of 2025 building on the X5 instead. After the X5's April launch, the company released a BMW Motorrad edition and a Satin White version over the summer. Then, in November, shortly after launching the X4 Air, Insta360 added an MM93 2025 Championship Edition of the X5, made to celebrate rider Marc Marquez's ninth Grand Prix World Championship win.
That version kept the same hardware as the standard X5 but added exclusive lenses, Marquez branding, a year of Insta360+ cloud storage, and bonus 360-degree footage of Marquez himself. Only 9,393 units were made. There’s no official word on what the X6 will bring, but the usual generational leap and leaks suggest the X6 could offer 8K video at 60FPS in 360-degree mode, up from 8K at 30FPS on the X5, as well as improved color depth and HDR support.
Other rumored changes include bigger image sensors for better low-light shots; photo resolution above 100MP with improved stitching; and a bigger battery, probably between 2,600 and 3,000mAh. The camera is expected to continue the rugged, waterproof design the X-series is known for.
I should note that none of these specifications above are confirmed, but given the launch date is close, we should start seeing some teasers from the company.
