Atari is reviving its brand with an ambitious plan to build a neon-soaked, esports-ready “gaming hotel” in Phoenix, Arizona, inviting fans to invest from as little as $500 as part of a community-focused funding model. With $14 million raised toward a $124 million budget, the project aims to open in 2028, promising high-tech rooms, creator suites, and large-scale entertainment venues while still facing a steep capital gap.

After kick-starting the 1972 home gaming era, Atari is back in the limelight with a futuristic vision no one expected. Atari is now launching a chain of themed hotels. The company spent years planning, delaying, and redesigning its Atari hotels.

After years of planning, the company has launched a crowdfunding-style initiative to raise funds for its flagship hotel, slated to open in Phoenix, Arizona. The company is inviting gamers and investors worldwide to become a part of what they’re calling the future of hospitality.

Intersection Development is developing the Atari hotel project. Atari is promising the world’s first gaming hotel in the Western hemisphere, flush with neon lights everywhere and cutting-edge technology, giving guests Cyberpunk vibes.

Atari says it’s developing high-tech guest rooms, personalised suites for content creators, bars, restaurants, shopping venues, a sportsbook, a concert hall capable of housing over 2,000 people, and a massive venue for esports tournaments.

Intersection Partner Jordan Taylor announced, “Atari Hotels was born from the idea that hospitality could be as interactive as gaming itself. Our Reg A fundraise and community ownership model reflects that vision, and gives gamers, pop culture fans, Phoenix locals, and investors a rare chance to help shape the first immersive gaming hotel in the Western Hemisphere.

Investments in the Atari hotel start at just $500, making it accessible to both gamers and new investors. Higher tiers unlock perks such as a loyalty program, virtual Q&A sessions with developers, VIP galas, exclusive merch, and access to pre-sale event tickets.

Currently, Atari is looking to raise between $35 million and $40 million in capital for the Arizona chain, which is said to encompass nearly an acre of land. Currently, Atari has raised $14 million in capital and completed land acquisition. However, the company is still far from reaching its project budget of $124 million.

Construction of the Atari Hotel is expected to begin in 2026, with the hotel hoping to open its doors to the public by late 2028. If investors and gamers each pitch in $500, it would take tens of thousands of backers to meet Atari’s crowdfunding goal. However, it’s not out of the question that some individuals would spend more than $50,000 to get access to exclusive perks.
