Asus ZenBook Pro 14 UX480FD-BE027T

The Asus ZenBook Pro 14 UX480FD-BE027T is a step-up ZenBook Pro models, with the new 14-inch device being a serious slab of laptop for the more creatively demanding user. It's got a top spec screen that caters for the full sRGB color gamut and its trackpad doubles-up as a secondary screen and touch controller. The ZenBook Pro 14 has an 86 percent screen-to-body ratio thanks to slender strips of the black stuff to its edges, which ensures a small overall footprint and attractive aesthetic. The screen itself is a LED-backlit panel with a Full HD resolution. There's something about a 14-inch form factor that just feels right, especially if users are often on the go. That's why the latest Pro will be even more popular than the larger 15-inch form. Just because it's a bit smaller doesn't mean it fails to embody much of the great stuff seen elsewhere in the ZenBook range though. But the biggest headline the ZenBook Pro 14 brings is its trackpad. Yup, this is no normal pad: named 'ScreenPad', a quick press of the F6 key allows for toggling between the pad's designation. Spanning 5.5 inches with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, the ScreenPad can be turned into app launcher, calculator, calendar, or numeric keypad. It can also play back YouTube videos via a Chrome extension, or it can simply extend the ZenBook Pro’s main display. Perhaps the biggest confusion stems from the extender mode: that’s when a user can drag a browser window directly off the main display and onto the ScreenPad. In that circumstance, a user expects the ScreenPad to still be a touchscreen, but it just works as a touchpad, meaning user have to manipulate what’s on it with the cursor. When it comes to power, the ZenBook Pro 14 isn't actually anymore 'pro' than its standard Zenbook cousins. That means the latest 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processors, 8 GB RAM alongside Nvidia GeForce MX150 discrete graphics with 2GB VRAM. Asus claims the ZenBook 14 Pro will run for up to 12.5 hours, which is pretty good going but less than the ZenBook 13 standard (which has a smaller battery capacity). As for input and output, the ZenBook Pro features two USB (3.1 and 2.0), a USB 3.1, an HDMI, a microSD card and a 3.5 mm audio jack. As a conclusion, the Pro laptop is designed for on-the-go users. The new 14-inch Asus mixes power with a trackpad that doubles down as a secondary screen. It's a creative solution for a specific audience such as photographers, video makers, designers, basically anyone who can find a use for a few extra CPU cycles. Asus ZenBook Pro 14 Review
Source: Techspot English
The ZenBook Pro 14 gets it right in striking a good balance is every department and at a competitive price. Currently there's no US availability for the 14" model we reviewed, but it is readily available in UK and other European countries. In the UK it's currently selling for £1,199 ($1,590). In the States the 15.6-inch, 4K version, which comes with Thunderbolt, an i7-8750H CPU, and the same TouchPad is selling for $1,549 at Best Buy. If you’re looking for a good all-rounder with a focus on creators, and one that differentiates itself from the crowd, this could be the laptop for you.

80% Asus ZenBook Pro 14 review: the designer-focussed laptop with a second screen built into its trackpad
Source: Digital Arts English
It feels slightly odd that what was introduced to us as an innovator turns out to be a solid budget laptop for designers with some nice new touches – which also include Alexa-driven voice control – but that’s what the ZenBook Pro 14 is. And judged under these terms, it’s a largely a success.

ASUS ZenBook Pro 14 UX480 review – the hottest 14-incher on the market
Source: Laptop Media English
At the end of this review you’d say: okay guys, it is clearly a great piece of technology, why are you so harsh with it? Why are you nitpicking? Well, if you pay a premium for a notebook, you would want everything to be on point! As is the performance of the ZenBook Pro 14 UX480. If you want something more – look at the 15″ version…

80% Asus ZenBook Pro 14 review: A trackpad that's a touchscreen, how does that work?
Source: Pocket Lint English
The second-screen trackpad may be what earns the Asus ZenBook Pro 14 attention. But the real appeal is elsewhere. This is a laptop that’s fairly portable and looks high-end, and can still play The Witcher 3 just as well as a PS4 can. It's relatively good value too, considering all that's on offer.

80% Asus ZenBook Pro 14 review: a powerful laptop with a touchpad that doubles up as a second display
Source: T3 English
The Asus ZenBook Pro 14 sits rather snugly in the middle of the budget laptops and the high-end laptops – you get some very good specs, a really rather tasteful design, and a quirky touchpad feature for your money. It's not perfect but it gets a lot of things right.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Incorporated, a Taiwanese multinational company, produces motherboards, graphics cards, optical drives, PDAs, computer monitors, notebook computers, servers, networking products, mobile phones, computer cases, computer components, and computer cooling systems. The company's 2007 revenues reached US$6.9 billion. ASUS also produces components for other manufacturers. The Eee PC initiated the netbook boom in 2008.

In the notebook sector, Asus had a global market share of about 11% from 2014-2016, making it the fourth largest laptop manufacturer. In the smartphone sector, Asus is not among the Top 5 and has only a small market share (as of 2016).

With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (Laptop): Mainstream graphics card based on Nvidia's Pascal architecture and successor to the GeForce GTX 960M. Is manufactured in a 14nm process at Samsung and the technical specifications are very similar to the desktop version.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q: Efficient mid-range graphics card for thin and light laptops based on the same GP107 chip as the normal GTX 1050 for laptops but at slower clock speeds. Offers a approx. 10 - 15% lower performance than the laptop GTX 1050 but at a much lower power consumption. » Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

8565U: Whiskey Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Kaby Lake but produced in a further improved 14nm++ process). The four cores are clocked between 1.8 and 4.6 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading.
