The Asus ROG Falchion Ace HFX made waves when it launched last year as a shockingly good competitor to other Hall-effect gaming keyboards, like the Wooting 80HE and 60HE+, although it has always cost around the same price as its Wooting competitors. Now, however, a 25% Amazon discount has dropped the Asus ROG Falchion Ace HFX to a new low price of just $149.99 for a limited time.
One of the biggest things Asus did with the Falchion Ace HFX was refine Hall-effect switch tech and construction to feel more like a quality mechanical keyboard. Many reviewers praised the Falchion Ace HFX for its impressive build quality, and its Asus-designed dual-rail magnetic switches. Although the switches are a proprietary Asus design, they go a long way towards eliminating the harsh chattery sound profile and wobbly stems generally associated with traditional Hall-effect switches — a quality we noted in our review of the Wooting 80HE and its Lekker L60 V2 switches.
The ROG Falchion Ace HFX ticks just about all the features for a modern gaming keyboard: It has Rapid Trigger and many other Hall-effect gaming features; it has 8 kHz polling for sub-millisecond latency, and it has a compact 65% layout with shine-through PBT keycaps. The Falchion Ace HFX also packs some surprises generally only found in premium mechanical keyboards, like a gasket mount, Poron foams for sound damping, and a switch pad to somewhat soften the typing feel further.

The Asus ROG Falchion Ace HFX keyboard has a bunch of quirky features that straddle the line between useful and gimmicky, like the dual USB type-C ports, but two features stand out as particularly useful and innovative. First, a toggle switch on the back of the keyboard allows you to quickly enable or disable Rapid Trigger, while a light-up visual indicator will let you know when it's on. Second, there is a touch-sensitive bar along the back of the Falchion Ace HFX that can be used to adjust the actuation point, switch between keyboard profiles, and change system volume right from the keyboard. This is a bigger deal than it may seem, since Asus Armoury Crate is widely regarded as being a pretty badly designed piece of software that also hogs resources.
The ROG Falchion Ace HFX also has dual-stage kick-out feet, which can be nice for ergonomics and should never be taken for granted. At the price of the Amazon deal, the Asus ROG Falchion Ace HFX undercuts or matches even some Hall-effect keyboards often thought of as more affordable options, like the $139.99–159.99 NuPhy Air60 HE or $169.99 Field75 HE.
