Reviews for the Asus G53JW-SX084V
Source: Techradar Archive.org version
Despite a few missteps along the way, the Asus G53Jw has enough notable strengths to make it a viable rival in the growing 3D laptop market. With its strong performance, striking Stealth Bomber design and comprehensive specification, you certainly get a lot for your money. However, the flawed screen and slightly limited usability prevent it from truly excelling and, if you can live without the 3D screen, there are plenty of far better rival multimedia and gaming laptops you could spend your money on.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M:

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
The Core i7-740QM is a high-end quad-core CPU for laptops (in 2010) with a relative small base clock rate and a high Turbo Boost max frequency of 2.93 GHz (for one core). Therefore, it combines the advantages of a slow clocked quad core CPU with a fast single core one. Compared to the faster Core i7 mobile CPUs, the 740QM only features 6MB L3 Cache.

80%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
