80% Asus Chromebook Plus CX14 review: A bargain laptop that’s actually fast
Source: PC World English
From my perspective as a tester, the Asus Chromebook Plus CX14 shows just how far Chromebooks have come. In daily use, I was particularly impressed by the responsive ChromeOS, decent battery life, and clear performance advantage over classic Celeron models. The Core 3 processor ensures that the system feels fast and stable at all times. Even with multiple tabs open and Android apps running in parallel, the Asus Chromebook Plus CX14 remained pleasantly smooth in my testing. The weaknesses are manageable: the webcam is only average, the plastic casing is functional, and the display is solid but not outstanding. Compared to more powerful Chromebook Plus models with Core i or better ARM chips, the CX14 lags slightly behind in terms of performance, but offers a very coherent overall package. For price-conscious users, I believe it is a reliable everyday companion with a clear performance leap over simple Chromebooks.

70% Asus Chromebook Plus CX14 Review: ChromeOS Charm on a Shoestring
Source: PC Mag English
The Chromebook Plus CX14 is a decent performer and can handle the tasks people usually throw at ChromeOS, except perhaps the most demanding of Android games. It has enough RAM to keep many tabs open simultaneously, and its local storage uses faster SSD technology, as opposed to the UFS or eMMC that anchors some other low-end Chromebooks. Possibly most important, the price is attractive, even more so if you can get it on sale. It’s not the best-built laptop, with an all-plastic construction that isn’t very rigid. The display won’t please media streamers or creators, and the keyboard and touchpad aren't great shakes, either. But it's worth your consideration if you have limited funds and want an easy platform to use and maintain. If you can stretch your budget a little further, the Asus Chromebook Plus CX34 addresses most, if not all, of these concerns, which earned it our Editors' Choice award in the category.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is a major Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer based in Taipei, founded in 1989. Under the Asus brand name, the company manufactures a wide range of products, including laptops, desktops, motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, smartphones and networking equipment, complete systems and PC components for end users.

Under the ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand name, ASUS manufactures gaming laptops known by gamers for their powerful specifications, dedicated graphics cards, high refresh rate displays and advanced cooling systems.

Beyond gaming, a wide range of notebooks are offered for different needs and budgets, from ultra-slim and lightweight ultrabooks to versatile 2-in-1 convertibles and budget-friendly options. In 2023, Asus had a 7% global market share of the PC market.

Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel UHD Graphics 32EUs: Integrated graphics card (in Alder-Lake SoCs) of the Gen. 12 architecture with 32 EUs.

Intel UHD Graphics 24EUs (Alder Lake-N): Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake-h SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 24 of the 32 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock speed depends on the processor model. Only suited for very low demanding games.

14.00:

14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.

In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

75%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
