Apple iPad Pro 2024 series could top out at 14-inch Mini LED model with boosted Apple M3 SoC
Renowned leaker Majin Bu has revealed a few alleged details about Apple's next flagship tablets. For context, Apple is still expected to release these under the iPad Pro brand, which is now into its eighth year. Last year, Apple equipped its 2022 refreshes with LCD panels, although the iPad Pro 12.9 also has Mini LED backlights for improved vibrancy and peak brightness compared to its 11-inch counterpart. Reportedly, Apple will use OLED panels across the board this time around, both for 11-inch and 12.9-inch models.
As a result, Majin Bu claims that the next iPad Pro 11 and iPad Pro 12.9 will reach up to 3,000 nits, nearly double the maximum luminosity of the current iPad Pro 12.9. Additionally, Apple is said to have created a 14.2-inch model to directly compete with Samsung's Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra (curr. US$1,099.99), which has a 14.6-inch AMOLED panel. However, this third iPad Pro model is expected to feature a Mini LED LCD panel instead to keep costs manageable.
Unsurprisingly, all iPad Pro models are rumoured to utilise the Apple M3, albeit potentially with 12 GPU cores instead of the 10-core variant found in MacBook Pro 14. Moreover, Apple's next iPad Pro tablets may also integrate a form of the Dynamic Island, as well as an aluminium Magic Keyboard and an Apple Pencil 3 that supports interchangeable tips. Allegedly, Apple may even adopt MagSafe for its next 'Pro' iPads rather than a Smart Connector, but there is no guarantee that this will be the case at this stage.
