When it comes to easy-to-recommend laptops, the MacBook Air has long reigned supreme. Thanks to the unforeseen efficiency and passively cooled performance afforded by Apple Silicon, the MacBook Air will most likely continue to be a solid recommendation for folks on the hunt for a premium affordable laptop. Thanks to a recent discount on Amazon, the 15-inch MacBook Air with 16 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage can now be purchased for an all-time low price of just $1,049 on the platform.

As mentioned, the Apple M4 SoC is undoubtedly an absolute screamer of a chip that does not sacrifice on efficiency. With a 10-core CPU, the M4 is well ahead of Intel's Lunar Lake offerings, and its 10-core GPU allows it to outpace the Arc 140V iGPU by as much as 20% in certain benchmarks.
