Alder Lake pushes Intel's CPU market share to a record high for 2021, per Mindfactory data
Redditor Ingebor recently compiled sales data from Mindfactory.de to understand the impact Alder Lake has had on the market share equation between Intel and AMD. From the data, it seems that Intel's enjoying its highest-ever 2021 market share, thanks in large part to a major spike in November, right when Alder Lake hit the market.
Intel's CPU market share jumped from a paltry 23 percent in October up to 30 percent in November. While that's major growth at the cost of AMD, it does reiterate just how dominant a position AMD's carved out for itself with its Ryzen CPU family.
For Intel, the largest revenue generators in November were the Alder Lake i9-12900K and i7-12700K, with the i5-12600K trailing somewhat behind. This makes sense considering that the 12600K costs less than half of the flagship 12900K. It's interesting to note that ancient parts like the 2017-vintage Ryzen 5 1600 are still contributing to overall CPU revenue - that particular SKU generated €47,000 in the European market in November.
With mainstream and budget Alder Lake parts slated to arrive in the months to come, it looks like Intel could continue to grow market share on the back of its latest architecture.
