Six new Casio Standard W220 watches have been released in the US. Described as mid-sized digital watches for ‘down-to-earth utility’, these wearables are said to offer a comfortable fit on a wide range of wrist sizes.
The three W220H watches are the W220H-1AV (all black), the W220H-1A2V (black with red accents) and the W220H-1A3V (black with green accents). Each of these products has a bio-resin strap and is priced at $39.95. The three W220HF watches are the W220HF-2AV (black with blue accents, black/blue strap), the W220HF-3AV (black with green accents, brown/green strap) and the W220HF-8AV (black with gray accents, black/blue-gray strap). These devices have leather/cloth straps, making them more expensive at $49.95.
Casio’s W220 watches support dual world time zones, with users able to set current and home locations. There is a 24 hour countdown timer, a 1/100th second stopwatch, a daily alarm and hourly time signals. Another feature is the amber LED backlight, triggered by a dedicated button near the lower watch strap. These watches have a fully automatic calendar to the year 2099 and should remain accurate to within 30 seconds each month. According to Casio, they are water resistant to 50 m and will run for around three years on a CR1616 battery.
These watches measure 43 x 36.6 x 10.9 mm (~1.7 x 1.4 x 0.4 inches), with the W220H weighing 27 g (~1.0 oz) and the W220HF lighter at 26 g (~0.9 oz). Whether or when these Standard W220, or W-220, watches could be released in other markets remains to be seen.
