60% Acer Chromebook 317 review: The budget Chromebook, supersized
Source: Expert Reviews English
The Chromebook 317 is a slightly odd beast. The bigger screen and desktop replacement form factor cry out for a high-performance spec but the Intel Celeron N4500 doesn’t have the cores or the firepower of the faster Intel Pentium Gold, Intel Core i3 and Intel Core i5 CPUs, and Acer hasn’t backed it up with 8GB of RAM or a speedy SSD. It’s usable, but we’d like it to be powerful and, I suspect, the 4GB of RAM might not be enough as time goes on. All the same, it’s impressive that you get so much Chromebook for so little cash, and the 317 would be a great option for light office duties or home study, partly because the bigger screen and keyboard make it a more comfortable device for everyday use. It’s worth considering, then, even if you can’t help wishing that it had the grunt to match its mighty size.

Acer Chromebook 317 CB317-1H (2021) Review
Source: Reviewed.com English
With the Chromebook 317, you're basically getting a big ol' portable screen that's a better (and cheaper) computing experience than your typical tablet and keyboard combination. It feels like that was Acer's primary focus for this laptop above all else, and that's fine, but we don't think it makes the most sense for everyone. You're better off waiting to see what other manufacturers can come up with at this size and price point—or, better yet, convincing yourself that a 15-inch display is big enough and focusing your gaze on one of the many excellent, slightly smaller Chromebooks you can get right now.

The Acer Chromebook 317 isn't the highest quality Chromebook to come through this office by a long shot. Its build quality will never let you forget it's made with a lot of plastic and its performance isn't great, but it has an ample keyboard, a 17.3-inch, 1080p screen (a first for a Chromebook), and acceptable battery life to carry it over the line into the "decent enough Chromebook" class.

It's hard to be critical of a laptop that has no competition—if you'd like a 17-inch Chromebook, your options begin and end here. The "3" is as significant as the "17" in the Acer Chromebook 317's model number, telling you that you're getting a modestly equipped, entry-level system rather than one of the fancier, faster machines in Acer's Chromebook 500 or 700 series. But it also means you're not paying very much. The Chromebook 317 isn't a stunner, but it should satisfy many consumers.

Hands-on with the Acer 317, the world's first 17-inch Chromebook
Source: Android Authority English
The Acer Chromebook 317 model CB317-1H comes with a non-touchscreen, the Intel Celeron N4500 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a single microphone for $379/€399. That’s a fair starting price, given the absolute enormity of this machine and the workspace it provides. It’s hard to know just how pricey the Chromebook gets without knowing the cost of items such as the webcam, dual-mic setup, or backlit keyboard.

80% Acer Chromebook 317 review: Is the world’s first 17.3-inch Chromebook worth it?
Source: Laptop Mag English
There are other Chrome OS devices you can buy that are within the same price range as the Acer Chromebook 317. For example, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 (currently $449 at Amazon) is also a record-setter — it’s the world’s first Chrome OS laptop with a QLED display. As such, it’s brighter and more colorful than its Acer counterpart. However, it’s stingy with ports, its battery life is shorter and it looks puny compared to the Chromebook 317’s giant footprint. If you’ve been sick and tired of dealing with Chromebooks that do not accommodate large hands, the Chromebook 317 is what you’ve been waiting for. The display is massive, the keyboard is roomy and the touchpad is expansive. You don’t have to worry about feeling cramped nor restricted ever again. Plus, the Chromebook 317 offers decent battery life with a runtime of 9 hours and 30 minutes. Overall, the Chromebook 317 is geared toward a niche consumer base. It won’t earn a spot on our best Chromebooks page, but we’ll let it sit at the best laptops under $1,000 table.

100% Acer Chromebook 317 Review – A Really Big Deal In More Ways Than One
Source: Android Headlines English
Whether or not the touch version of the Acer Chromebook 317 is going to be worth the money isn’t even really a question. Or at least that’s the case if you don’t need a top-tier gaming machine this Chromebook has more than enough power. Especially since Chrome OS itself is so lightweight. And, best of all, with a display that boasts a FullHD resolution at a size that’s unprecedented for its category. For all of that, this Chrome OS laptop from Acer is worth its asking price and then some. At under $500, the Acer Chromebook 317 (CB317-1HT-P5PF) sets a high bar for any future large-size Chromebooks. It’s a bargain that shouldn’t be overlooked.

71.43%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
