Archive.org versionSeriously, this is 2015 — near the end of it, even — and we’re still seeing displays that look like they came out of 2011 or 2012. No, Acer. Just say no, and next time throw in something decent, because until the Acer Aspire V15 drops below a grand, it’s hard to recommend, even though the rest of its parts aren’t bad performers, because the way of using the laptop — that whole screen thing — kind of dents the entire experience.

Archive.org versionThe latest Aspire V15 model is slim, reasonably light and looks and feels well finished, the aluminium top panel in particular providing a classy touch. Its performance is easily good enough for everyday use like surfing the web and routine business tasks and the screen is particularly impressive making it a good choice for watching videos.

Model: The Acer Aspire V3 is a sleek laptop with the latest hardware and features. Its Intel Core i5 5200U clocked at 2.5 GHz features the Intel HD Graphics 5500. 8 GB of RAM come pre installed and the hard disk capacity is 1 TB. This Aspire V3 features a dedicated 2 GB graphic card as well. The GeForce 940M from NVIDIA enables the latest graphic demanding games to be played at medium settings at least. The 15.6 inch display features a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Windows 8.1 is pre-installed. As for connectivity, there a two USB 3.0 ports and a USB 2.0 port, which can charge mobile devices while the laptop is switched off. There is only one choice of color, which is black. A backlit keyboard makes working in low light condition stress-free and the large touchpad ensures easy navigation. This device only weighs in at 2.4 kg with its battery plugged in, which makes this laptop portable despite having a large screen size. Overall, this device is useful for work and can be classified as a gaming laptop as it has a discrete graphic card.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
