ASRock has revealed the NUC 1300 BOX and NUCS 1300 BOX, a pair of mini-PCs based on Intel's new Raptor Lake processors. Offered with DDR4 or DDR5 RAM depending on the model chosen, the mini-PCs also have different ports, among other minor changes.

ASRock has announced new mini-PCs based on Intel's latest Raptor Lake platform. Billed as the NUC 1300 BOX and the NUCS 1300 BOX, the pair will be available with the Core i5-1340P or Core i7-1360P, 12 cores processors with 80 EU and 96 EU Iris Xe iGPUs, respectively. Initially, ASRock will offer the following NUC 1300 BOX and NUCS 1300 BOX configurations:

  • NUC BOX-1340P/D4
  • NUC BOX-1360P/D4
  • NUC BOX-1340P/D5
  • NUC BOX-1360P/D5
  • NUCS BOX-1340P/D4
  • NUCS BOX-1360P/D4

Fundamentally, the NUC 1300 BOX and NUCS 1300 BOX are the same machine. However, the former contains a few more features than the latter at the expense of a thicker case. For reference, the NUC 1300 BOX measures 117 x 110 x 47.85 mm and weighs 1 kg with memory installed. In comparison, the NUCS 1300 BOX comes in at 117.5 x 110 x 38 mm and approximately 900 g. On the one hand, the thicker chassis allows ASRock to include a 2.5-inch SATA drive slot, should you need more than one storage drive or more space than an M.2 drive could accommodate.

On the other hand, NUC 1300 BOX units have different ports to their NUCS 1300 BOX counterparts, with dual 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports and a DisplayPort 1.4 output. The latter is in place of the second HDMI port in the NUCS 1300 BOX, which also has an additional USB Type-A port on its front. All models feature two USB Type-C ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode though, plus a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet connection, a 3.5 mm jack, a Kensington lock slot and a DC power input. It is worth noting that only the NUC 1300 BOX is available with DDR5-4800 RAM. Conversely, NUCS 1300 BOX units ship with DDR4-3200 RAM. ASRock has not shared any pricing details yet, but details about all SKUs can be found on its website.
