The Ryzen 9 7950X3D, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D, and the Ryzen 7 7800X3D are a trio of Zen 4 CPUs that feature 3D V-Cache. Courtesy of 3D cache, L3 cache that resides on top of a Core Chiplet Die (CCD) aimed at providing increased performance in cache-sensitive applications, the flagship Ryzen 9 7950X3D has now proven to be the fastest gaming CPU on the market per launch review analysis conducted by 3DCenter.

The Ryzen 9 7950X3D launched on February 28 to stellar reviews. Overall, the Ryzen9 7950X3D seems to have put AMD at the top of the gaming CPU hierarchy. 3DCenter has compiled a round-up of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D launch reviews to give a full picture of the CPU in light of findings from several independent reviews.

Per 3DCenter’s analysis, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D manages to outperform Intel’s top dogs in gaming by a small margin. The AMD CPU proves to be 3.8% faster on average vs the Core i9-13900K and 2.7% ahead of the Core i9-13900KS. Unsurprisingly, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D outclasses the vanilla Ryzen 9 7950X by a healthy margin of 15% on average.

When it comes to application performance, the difference between the Ryzen 9 7950X and the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is small which is a great thing, since the Ryzen 7 5800X3D did lose mentionable performance compared to its non-3D Zen 3 counterparts. According to 3DCenter, the application performance differential between the Ryzen 9 7950X and the Ryzen 9 7950X3D varies between 4-6% in favor of the former.

Finally, the gaming power consumption figures posted by the Ryzen 9 7950X3D are remarkable, to say the least. Not only does the processor beat the Intel Core i9-13900K/KS in gaming, but the CPU also consumes only 53% of the energy used by the Core i9-13900K. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D also uses less power than the Core i5-13600K and the Ryzen 7 7700X, effectively matching the last-gen Ryzen 7 5800X3D which has half as many cores.

Put simply, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is an incredible CPU for gaming as it leads the charts in both performance and power consumption when compared with competing processors from Intel.
