The supposed "previous generation" AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D decimated flagships from Zen 4 and Raptor Lake in gaming. AMD has at least two more 3D V-Cache processors in the pipeline, namely the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Ryzen 9 7950X3D. A previous leak speculated that they would offer a 30% performance uplift over their non-X3D counterparts. Those waiting for the processors will be pleased to know that they finally have a tentative release date.
Twitter user @benson60843125 (via Wccftech) stumbled upon what looked like a product roadmap from one of AMD's internal events. It highlights that the 3D V-cache (X3D) variants of Zen 4 processors will be unveiled in early 2023. It sits in line with multiple reports from earlier, which stated that AMD would unveil the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Ryzen 9 7950X3D at CES 2023, i.e. the beginning of 2023. Other hints include Zen 4-based Threadrippers arriving in late 2023/early 2024 alongside Ryzen 7000 APUs.
Among other things, the Zen 4-based Ryzen X3D processors will feature a second-generation 3D V-cache manufactured on TSMC's 6 nm node and a likely increase in the total amount of cache available to the processor. Overclocking the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 7 7800X3D could still be problematic due to tight voltage tolerances, but one probably wouldn't need to tweak them much, given that Zen 4 can work wonders at stock configuration.
