A company has retrofitted a USB Type-C port in an iPhone 12 Pro Max. DEEP s.r.o is selling the modified iPhone through eBay in an auction that ends this weekend. Supposedly, the USB Type-C port is MFi-certified, which allows it to provide full charging and data transfer capabilities.

Another Apple iPhone retrofitted with a USB Type-C port has been brought to eBay. As we discussed last month, the second iPhone sold with a USB Type-C port failed to attract much attention and fell far short of the US$86,001 that the original model achieved. While these auctions were for both for an iPhone X, Slovakian company DEEP has introduced an iPhone 12 Pro Max with a USB Type-C connection.

Purportedly, the modified iPhone 12 Pro Max has a functional USB Type-C port, providing it with wired charging and data transfer. Incidentally, the company has published a video outlining how it modified the device, embedded below. DEEP claims that it has equipped the iPhone 12 Pro Max with an MFi-certified USB Type-C connector, but DEEP has not clarified whether it is still waterproof.

Currently, the auction has reached US$2,025 from 16 bids, having started at just US$1.00. Please note that the auction price does not include shipping, which has been set at US$30.00. Additionally, the seller notes that international shipments may incur customs processing and additional charges. The iPhone 12 Pro Max will ship from Slovakia, so buyers from within the Eurozone should not be met with any customs charges. The auction will run until Sunday, March 6, and will end at 08:00 UTC.
