A Bluetooth SIG leak raises the prospect of a true 2019 Realme flagship
Realme is a sub-brand of the OEM OPPO that is usually associated with more cost-effective devices directed at a younger smartphone consumer audience. To that end, it has typically used mid- to low-end processors, although they can be paired with more attractive, flashy features with regard to their cameras or other attributes. However, it now seems that the brand will release a phone that could be a contender in at least 1 price-band up from normal.
This theory is corroborated by the discovery of a Bluetooth SIG certification for a Realme device characterized as running a "2.84GHz Qualcomm eight-core processor". There is a chipset out there that matches these specs: the Snapdragon 855. The new phone is also described as having a 6.55-inch FHD screen (which measures up to that of the brand-new OnePlus 7T).
However, it is also down as having a 1950mAh battery, which may impact on the validity of this leak somewhat. (Then again, this could mean it is using OPPO's dual-battery-pack design to minimize charging times.) Should this document prove genuine, the new Realme 855 phone comes in 2 variants: RMX 1933 and RMX 1931.
The former has also been spotted in the Wi-Fi Alliance and Bureau of Indian Standards approved lists. This suggests that it is a regional variant destined for the same market, whereas RMX 1931 could be a Chinese or international model of this putative new Realme flagship.
