A young modder has managed to boot Windows 95 and run it inside Hytale, which was released earlier this year. The modder in question, Sadat Sahib, is a 15-year-old who goes by iamcxv7 online.
Hytale was released on January 13, 2026, and has exploded in popularity as the spiritual RPG successor to Minecraft, which is still currently in early access. However, that hasn’t stopped modders like iamcxv7 from tinkering with what’s possible inside the game. He’s also managed to run Minecraft inside of Hytale, and, like Inception, run Hytale inside of Hytale itself.
Sahib, who dubs himself a multidisciplinary engineer, shared a video of Windows 95 running smoothly in Hytale, posted by the HytaleModding X account. While interacting with the operating system in Hytale seemed a bit clunky, he used a controller instead of a mouse and keyboard.
This in-engine mod essentially emulated Windows 95 without any technical glitches, which just goes to show how flexible Hytale’s tools are for modders and creators wanting to create something entirely different within the game. He mentioned that his technical marvel inside Hytale runs on the server with software rendering.
His feat didn’t go unnoticed, as it managed to catch the eye of Hypixel Studios co-founder Philippe Touchette, who said, “Hytale modder ran Windows 95 in-game, just 5 days after launch, what the hell is going on lol.”
However, that alone didn’t stop Sahib from tinkering with the game. He managed to get Minecraft Classic 0.30 running inside Hytale’s world map using pure pixel data manipulation and CPU-based 3D rendering, which outputs at 320x420p with a somewhat stable 35 FPS. Explaining the mod, he said:
I’m running Minecraft Classic 0.30 entirely on the server with a custom software renderer I wrote from scratch. No GPU, no OpenGL calls—just pure CPU-based 3D rendering. Every frame, I compute the pixels myself and stream them to players through Hytale’s world map system.
However, Sahib also pulled out the ongoing and timeless internet meme “Can it run Doom?” on Hytale, too. Of course, he managed to get Doom running inside Hytale. For those curious about console emulation, he also managed to emulate the Game Boy and Game Boy Color in Hytale’s world map.
