The latest full-frame lens from 7Artisans is designed to deliver impressive portraits at an attractive price. 7Artisans is now offering a 135 mm f/1.8 autofocus lens for Sony, Leica, Panasonic, and Nikon cameras.

The 7Artisans 135 mm f/1.8 full-frame lens was originally unveiled in May, but until now had been available exclusively for Nikon Z cameras. The lens is now also available with Leica SL and Sony E-mounts. For Sony users, however, compatibility with some cameras is limited; before purchasing, it is recommended to check the compatibility chart on the official product page .

Priced at $689, the 7Artisans lens is one of the most affordable 135 mm f/1.8 full-frame lenses. By comparison, the Sony FE 135 mm f/1.8 GM costs $2,249, while Samyang and Viltrox offer alternatives at comparable prices. Despite its affordable price, the 7Artisans 135 mm f/1.8 is said to deliver sharp images across the entire image field even at wide-open aperture and is suitable for cameras with 60-megapixel sensors.

To make this possible, 7Artisans has employed a complex optical design consisting of 16 lenses, including six ED lenses. An STM motor is designed to enable fast, quiet autofocus. The minimum focusing distance of 68 centimeters allows for macro photography at a maximum magnification of 1:4. A USB-C port allows for firmware updates. With a diameter of 9.1 centimeters, a length of 13 centimeters, and a weight of just over one kilogram, the lens is not particularly compact.

Pricing and availability

The 7Artisans AF 135 mm f/1.8 full-frame lens is now available for $689 in the manufacturer’s online store. Shipping from China is free, but the price does not include import sales tax and customs duties.
