Train Sim World 6 players can claim the Spirit of Steam Liverpool Lime Street to Crewe route DLC free on Steam and Epic for a limited time. It adds classic steam trains and a UK route, but requires the base game to play.

Train Sim World 6 players have a solid freebie to grab right now, but it’s worth stressing up front: this isn’t the full game. Dovetail Games has made the Spirit of Steam: Liverpool Lime Street – Crewe Route Add-On free to keep for a limited time on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

For anyone not deep into Train Sim World already, this DLC is essentially a full route pack themed around British steam-era operations. The add-on recreates a 36-mile (58 km) run between Liverpool Lime Street and Crewe, set in 1958, and includes 15 stations along the way.

The major draw is the rolling stock. You get the LMS Jubilee Class steam locomotive in BR late Brunswick green, plus the LMS Stanier 8F in a weathered BR late unlined black livery, alongside Mk1 passenger coaches and a set of freight wagons and a brake van. Dovetail also mentions that claiming this add-on can unlock steam rail tour services and AI traffic on certain other UK routes (sometimes depending on what other add-ons you own).

The fine print is pretty important, especially for deal hunters. On Steam and Epic, you need Train Sim World 6 (including the Starter Pack) in order to claim the add-on, and you’ll also need the base game to actually play it. If you already own TSW6, it’s a straightforward "Get/Add to account" click. If not, you can still claim and keep it until you decide to purchase the game in the future. Interestingly, the "Free Starter Pack" edition of the game was available to claim at no cost earlier this year on Epic Games.

If you’re wondering about player feedback, the Steam listing currently shows only 4 user reviews, which aren't enough to generate a score yet - so this is more of a "route collectors and steam fans" pickup than a popularity-driven recommendation.

As for the deal itself, the DLC is normally priced around $39.99 in the US (with occasional price drops), but it’s discounted to free (-100%) for the first time. The giveaway runs until January 5, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. ET / 10:00 a.m. PT (6:00 p.m. UTC). You can claim it on Steam here, and on Epic Games here.
