The M2017 was Gionee's luxury offering for 2016, as it sold for prices rising up to $2000. While the Snapdragon 653 it had on board was underwhelming, every other aspect of the device was top-notch.

Chinese OEM Gionee has developed something of a reputation for releasing devices with massive batteries, a feature that plays directly into the needs of the Sub-Saharan market it seems to be targeting. The company recently launched the first sets of devices in its A series and is already set for the release of its luxury business class M2018, with the device being spotted on TENAA.

The pictures of the M2018 on TENAA were largely the same as what we saw on the M2017, with slight differences in the placement of the SIM tray and the earpiece.

No specifications were listed, as this is just an initial listing, but the M2017 was powered by a Snapdragon 653, and sported a 5.7" AMOLED QHD display, 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, dual rear cameras, and a mind-boggling 7000mAh battery. It also had a base price tag of about US$1050, with the exclusive version shooting right up to US$2500. That's solid proof that it isn't for everyone, really.
