Gionee A1 Lite with mega 20MP front-facing camera launched
Gionee launched the A1 and A1 Plus sometime in February, and the OEM is set to release the budget device of this series, the A1 Lite.
The A1 was notorious for carrying a 20MP selfie shooter and it the A1 Lite will continue that tradition, probably in a bid to follow the recent trend of selfie-focused devices, a trend on the rise in the West African market Gionee is targeting.
While the A1 and A1 Plus were powered by the Helio P10 (MT6755) and Helio P25 (MT6757T) respectively, the A1 will house the MT6753, MediaTek's mid-range SoC from way back 2015.
It will sport a 5.2" HD display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage memory, a 13MP primary camera, 20MP selfie shooter, and a 4000mAh battery.
Considering its expected price tag of $260, this doesn't seem to be that good of a deal. The selfie shooter is the only thing that stands out in this device—it sounds rather gimmicky, at that—and you'd be better served getting something else.
