iPhone 14 Pro's wireless charging capabilities reportedly hampered by its thick camera housing

The iPhone 14 Pro, unlike its predecessors, brings forth some tangible updates that an untrained eye can see. It also gives a much-needed spec boost to the cameras, which, for the longest time, stick to 12 MP sensors. There are, however, some teething issues with the iPhone 14 Pro's cameras, such as uncontrollable shaking while on third-party apps. Now, users worldwide have stumbled upon another annoyance seemingly caused by the new modules.

Piunikaweb has coalesced user reports from multiple platforms complaining about wireless chargers not playing nice with the iPhone 14 Pro. The thick camera bump seems to be the problem here, as it lifts the phone enough for the magnetic charging coils to disengage with the chassis. In other instances, the charger is unable to hold the phone in place. Although some wireless charging pads might allow users to move the phone around freely, others require it to touch the surface at a particular angle. No complaints have emerged about the larger iPhone 14 Pro Max or the entry-level iPhone 14 yet.

Because this is an issue with the physical design of the iPhone 14 Pro, the only workaround is to realign the phone until the coils can make contact with the charger. This might force people with seemingly "incompatible" hardware to look at alternative solutions. It has only been a few weeks since the iPhone 14 Pro's launch. Only a handful of users might be affected now. But that number will almost certainly increase after the holiday season when more people are likely to take a vacation to Dynamic Island.
