When it comes to tablets for kids the top choice is an Amazon Fire Kids tablet, and if you don't want that you buy a regular tablet and slap a colorful rugged case on it. If you are lucky, the tablet has a kids mode like Samsung Kids or it comes with Google Kids Space. Some manufacturers also offer official cases that are designed to transform their kids into colorful tablets for kids and that is what Redmi is doing with its Redmi Pad 2 (read our review).
Redmi has revealed what it calls the Redmi Pad 2 Play Bundle, and from the looks of it, it is a special edition of the Redmi Pad 2 with a case and stylus bundle that makes it suitable for kids. The light blue case has a rugged design, so it should be able to protect the tablet from the not-so-gentle handling of kids. It also has a slot for a yellow kids stylus and a yellow handle that folds backwards to double as a kickstand.
The Redmi Pad 2 doesn't have a dedicated Kids Mode nor does it have Google Kids Space pre-installed. However, there is a pre-installed painting app with free 30-day access that kids can use. Nevertheless, parents should be able to install kid-friendly apps and games on the tablet.
Redmi hasn't revealed how much the Redmi Pad 2 Play Bundle will cost as well as details about availability. The link included in the X post redirects to its website but there's no listing of the bundle there. It is also not clear if the case will be available as a separate purchase for those who already bought the Redmi Pad 2 (curr. available on Amazon for €129.75).
