Xiaomi will be officially unveiling the Redmi K Pad later today alongside a slew of other new devices. As it stands, the company is only expected to showcase the tablet in China and is unlikely to comment on international availability. However, a new regulatory body certification suggests that Xiaomi is already preparing for a global launch at some stage after rumours of a Poco F Pad emerged earlier this month.
To recap, the Redmi K Pad has previously been associated with the model number 25079RPDCC. While this model number does not reveal much on the face of it, its C suffix indicates that at least this version will only ever be sold in China. Conversely, the 25079RPDCG that has just appeared on the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) database is intended for the global market.
As usual, the IMDA does not give too many details away beyond the 25079RPDCG being a 'tablet computer' that supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Evidently, 25079RPDCC and 25079RPDCG are regional variants of the same device, though. The Redmi K Pad should be significantly more powerful than the Redmi Pad SE 8.7, Xiaomi's other recent compact tablet release (curr. $142 on Amazon).
To that end, the Redmi K Pad will launch combining a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset with a 7,500 mAh battery and an 8.8-inch IPS display. According to recent teasers, this relatively small display will output at a 3K native resolution while also offering a 165 Hz refresh rate to challenge the latest Lenovo Legion Y700 and the upcoming RedMagic Astra.
