The Redmi K Pad is shaping up as another iPad mini 7 challenger (curr. $489 on Amazon), fresh from the release of the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro. Xiaomi's next tablet will also rival the latest Legion Y700, which Lenovo is expected to offer globally later this year as the Legion Tab Gen 4. Meanwhile, RedMagic has already confirmed that the Gaming Tablet 3 Pro will be available outside China as the RedMagic Astra.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi is not at the stage yet to confirm whether the Redmi K Pad will be sold globally. Instead, it continues to drip feed fans information about its new 'luxury performance tablet' on social media. This time, the company and its executives have confirmed the inclusion of an 8.8-inch IPS panel, which was already revealed by leakers.
However, Xiaomi has now elaborated that this compact display will output at a 3K native resolution. While its exact resolution and aspect ratio remain unknown for now, Xiaomi adds that this panel will deliver a 165 Hz refresh rate, too. On top of that, the Redmi K Pad is said to provide a 50:50 weight distribution even with its 12,050 mm² aluminium-alloy vapour chamber cooling system.
Moreover, the Redmi K Pad is set to rival the Galaxy Tab S11 series by using the same MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset. Unlike Samsung's flagship tablets, the Redmi K Pad will also contain two USB Type-C ports and dual x-axis linear motors to provide an immersive gaming experience even when charging. Unfortunately, a specific release date still escapes Xiaomi's teasers.
