Xiaomi Mi 9, Mi 9T Pro, and Pocophone F1 among the list of smartphones that can enjoy the Paranoid Android Quartz 5 Android 10 custom ROM as devs plan for Android 11
The Paranoid Android team has now released the Android 10-based custom ROM Quartz 5, which will be the last version of Quartz as the devs move on to working with Android 11 and Paranoid Android Ruby. Along with some new features that will be made available to many of the devices already operating on Paranoid Android Quartz 4, there is also full support that has been added specifically for the Xiaomi Mi A3 and Mi 6X.
The Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones that can utilize this fifth version of Paranoid Android are as follows:
- Xiaomi Mi 6X
- Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 8 Pro
- Xiaomi Mi 9, Mi 9T Pro (Redmi K20 Pro)
- Xiaomi Mi A2
- Xiaomi Mi A3
- Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix 2S
- Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro
- Redmi 3S, Redmi 4A, Redmi 5, Redmi 6 Pro
- Pocophone F1
Along with a security patch for September, Paranoid Android Quartz 5 brings DC Dimming, LockScreen SmartSpace, and Ringer Mode Gestures as just some of the new features included. There may be some future minor updates made available to devices using the Android 10-based Quartz custom ROM, but it has been clearly stated that features and platform development will cease.
Xiaomi and Redmi fans can look forward to Paranoid Android Ruby, which will be based on the open-source code from Android 11. According to the latest news from the firmware builders, some lucky select smartphones could be testing out an alpha version of the ROM within a few months. First-time users can find download links for Quartz 5 here while those who are already in possession of a smartphone operating on Quartz 4 can expect an OTA update at some point soon.
