The iPhone 17 Pro has now officially failed Evan Blass' 'what could have been' pre-launch concept post by neglecting to launch with the rear-facing, camera hump-integrated display depicted in those renders. The Xiaomi 17 Pro will not, though, as per its own authentic teasers.
It is projected to combine its new "Magic Back Screen" with a form-factor similar to that of the ~6.3-inch iPhone 17 Pro and a high-end, ultra-slim-bezel display driven by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, about to be unleashed as Qualcomm's answer to Apple's A19 Pro.
Despite that, the Xiaomi 17 Pro is predicted to cost approximately 5,999 yuan (~$843), which has just been announced as the starting price of the vanilla iPhone 17, a device that has 2 rear cameras as opposed to what seems to be 3 in the Xiaomi 17 Pro (as well as the iPhone 17 Pro), and is powered by the relatively entry-level A19 processor.
Furthermore, that price is quoted for a 512GB Xiaomi 17 Pro, whereas Apple asks that much for a 256GB iPhone 17. Meanwhile, the existing 17 Pro starts at 8,999 yuan (~$1,265) - and that is for the same minimum storage, while a 512GB version costs 10,999 yuan (~$1,546).
Therefore, should this prediction from famed leaker Digital Chat Station work out, the Xiaomi 17 Pro will cost no more than 54.5% of its Apple namesake's price with the same amount of integrated storage.
Obviously, these predictions are likely to apply to the Chinese market only, as do these prices. That is mostly because the 17 Pro will, unfortunately, probably be exclusive to that market on its launch, as with the 15 Pro before it (it is not even available on Amazon, whereas its vanilla compact flagship counterpart the 15 is).
