Xiaomi is tipped to launch the Xiaomi 15 Ultra at the end of the month. The flagship phone will arrive with, perhaps, the most impressive camera array seen on a smartphone yet, and company CEO Lei Jun has now shared a new camera sample showcasing just how impressive the Xiaomi 15 Ultra's imaging performance is.
Taking to Weibo, Lei Jun shared a shot taken on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. The shot shows off impressive dynamic range and minimal smearing and looks like it'd stack up competently compared to images taken by the main cameras of Apple and Samsung current-gen flagships. Astonishingly, however, it's captured by the Xiaomi 15 Ultra's zoom snapper.
As previously reported, Xiaomi will be using a 200 MP main sensor on its long-range zoom camera. This sensor, the ISOCELL HP9, measures in at 1/1.4", and delivers 2.24μm pixels after binning. For some perspective, the main camera on the Galaxy S25 (buy on Amazon) and S25+, the ISOCELL GN3, has a physical size of 1/1.56" and outputs 2μm pixel after binning. It's no surprise, then, that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra's zoom camera performs so well.
Exif data of the shared image sample confirms that the HP9 sits beneath a 4.3x periscope lens with a 100mm equivalent focal length. According to previous reports, the other zoom camera will be a 3x lens. Joining them will be a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle snapper and a type 1-inch 50 MP main camera.
