The successor to last year's Xiaomi 14 Ultra (curr. $1,035 on Amazon) appears to be right around the corner. To recap, Xiaomi is seemingly set to use this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) to bring forth new flagships globally. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra may arrive sooner in China though, as was the case with its predecessor.
Until now, there had only been suggestions that Xiaomi intended to sell its next Ultra smartphone in two colour options. A new leak has put paid to that idea with an image of a third option that has a dual-tone finish. Based on the image reproduced below, it looks like Xiaomi has combined glass and vegan leather in homage to classic Leica cameras, which extends to italicised 'Ultra' branding in the top-right corner when holding the device in landscape mode.
The same picture provides a clear look at camera specifications too, courtesy of the screen printing on the device's huge camera housing. For instance, Xiaomi has included a f/1.63 aperture primary camera, likely underpinned by a Sony LYT-900 sensor. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra should also find itself with a 14 mm ultra-wide-angle camera and telephoto optics that peak at a 100 mm equivalent focal length and an f/2.6 aperture. All rear-facing cameras should be backed by Vario-Summilux lenses as well; it remains to be seen whether a variable aperture will be returning, though.
