Rumor | Xiaomi 14 will launch with faster charging than the 13
The Xiaomi 13 was spotted using a power brick compatible with its predecessor the 12 (and the Mi 11 Pro before that) to register as a 67 watt (W)-charging smartphone with 3C. The higher-end 13 Pro, meanwhile, forged ahead with a faster, yet still last-gen, 120W standard.
However, there may now be signs that their OEM might finally be ready to shake things up in terms of its in-house mobile power tech - but perhaps not until 2024.
The consistent tipster Digital Chat Station claims to have gotten hold of a listing for Xiaomi's latest power brick, called the MDY-14-EC whereas that of the 13 (and 12, and so on) is the MDY-12-Ex.
The accessory differs from its putative forebear in that it apparently has an all-new maximum profile of 20V/4.5A.
That equates to a new top speed of 90W. The new tip has led to speculation that the next-gen charger is intended for use with the "14" that might succeed the existing 13.
Should that be the case, the putative next-gen Android flagship might be unveiled before the end of 2023.
