Volkswagen 2023 ID.4 US pricing announced with cheaper 62 kWh model

Volkswagen has announced the US pricing for the 2023 ID.4 electric SUV. The EV will start from US$37,495, with a potential Federal tax credit of up to US$7,500. A new 62 kWh battery, with an estimated range of up to 208 miles (~335 km), offers a lower entry-level price. An 82 kWh battery is also available, with a range of around 275 miles (~443 km).

Three trim levels are on offer, the Standard/Pro, S and S Plus, with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. A single, permanent magnet synchronous motor in the rear-wheel-drive models provides 201 hp. In comparison, adding an asynchronous motor to the all-wheel-drive vehicles delivers up to 295 hp.

There is a range of new standard features on the 2023 VW ID.4, such as Intelligent Park Assist, 45 W USB-C charging and a 12-in infotainment display. Plus, the Plug&Charge tool is no longer an optional extra, and customers in the US are eligible for three years of 30-minute DC fast charging sessions at Electrify America stations. The latest model has an upgraded exterior and interior, with various new colors available.

The 2023 ID.4 electric SUV is now manufactured in the Volkswagen Chattanooga factory, its first US electric vehicle manufacturing site. Production of the vehicle began last month, with the company aiming to build 7,000 units per month at the facility before the year is out. The US assembled VW ID.4 is expected to be delivered to dealers this Fall.
