It is a well-known fact that the rapidly growing electric car market is dominated by family-friendly SUVs, which are in particularly high demand these days. With upcoming vehicles like the Audi Q6 e-tron, German carmakers are also continuing to target this profitable product category, but the often overlooked class of electric compact cars could finally get an exciting new addition in the form of the Audi A3 e-tron.
Even though the Audi A3 e-tron is expected to launch as part of the new model generation in 2026 or 2027, impatient fans can now get a great first look at the electric car's rumored design. This unofficial render picture of the electric Audi A3 can be accessed over at Motor1, and it for example shows a quite familiar front grille as well as black inserts on the front bumper, which are complemented by an e-tron branding on the bottom.
Furthermore, the LED headlights of the Audi A3 e-tron could be extremely narrow and fairly aggressive, while the side mirrors of the electric compact car could rely on a camera-based system. Overall, this beautiful render picture of the electric Audi A3 e-tron appears to be quite plausible, but its final design may look completely different when it launches in 2026 or 2027. Unfortunately, there are also no details regarding the technical specifications of the German EV, but some experts assume that the Audi A3 e-tron could be based on Volkswagen’s new “Scalable Systems Platform”, or SSP in short.
