Xiaomi looks to be keeping up rather nicely with security patches—at least on some of its phones. After sending out the September update to the Indian model of the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the company is now rolling out the update to the global variants of the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro.

After sending out the September update to the Redmi Note 8 Pro and some of its Android One phones, Xiaomi is now sending out the update to phones in the Redmi Note 9 series.

The company started by sending the MIUI 12 update to the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 9 Pro last week. This time out, updates are rolling out to the global models of the Redmi Note 9 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro. For the Redmi Note 9, the update bears the build number "V12.0.4.0.QJOMIXM", with the "MI" designation denoting that it's for the global variant of the device. The Redmi Note 9, of course, received MIUI 12 months ago.

For the Redmi Note 9 Pro, the OTA delivers an update with build number "V11.0.7.0.QJZMIXM". The update, as mentioned previously, is for the global variant of the phone. It's interesting to note, however, that while the global model is now up to date—on the September patch—the European model doesn't appear to have received any security updates since July.
